Homemade Sugar Lace Recipe from Scratch

Sugar lace dominated the edible lace market for nearly the past decade!  It was an instant success as it allowed people to decorate cakes with very fine sugar that resembled delicate lace often seen on beautiful wedding dresses. Cake design entered a new realm! Sugar lace has the look of a flexible royal icing. It can be spread and then peeled from the silicone mold and draped around the contours of a cake. These pieces may be made in advance, stored air-tight to retain their flexibility, and used when desired. I tried a few recipes and this one was the winner.

Rainbow Cake Pops

The beautiful Rainbow Cake Pops you see here were made by me (plot twist), aka Vika the daughter of Lea. That's why instead of Lea's Cooking, today is Vika's Cooking. These amazing little treats are ubiquitous by Starbucks. I mean why spend $2 for 1 cake pop when you can make them for cheaper. Here in this video I walk you through the steps to make your own cake pops. Whether you use homemade or store-bought cake and icing, you can still customize these adorable little treats to your hearts desire. Decorate them for any occasion! The process may be time consuming but the rewards are well worth the effort.

Dark Chocolate Ganache Recipe "КРЕМ ГАНАШ "

Ganache -- a smooth mixture of chocolate and cream -- is one of the richest, most luscious of all chocolate frostings. The frosting is made in the same manner as the chocolate ganache glaze, and then allowed to thicken until the frosting is spreadable. In ganache recipes, the proportions of chocolate to cream vary depending on whether it will be a coating, filling, or truffle. This recipe is a standard 1-to-1 weight ratio of chocolate to cream, which is good for coating cakes. Lately I been using ganache under the fondant. It holds the cake shape really well.

Fondant Recipe and Daisies Tutorial

Fondant is an icing-like substance used to decorate or sculpt pastries. This recipe is actually really simple and anyone can make it at home. There’s no reason to buy fondant when you’re just a few ingredients and steps away from cheaper home made version of high quality fondant.  I started learning with fondant, because I could buy the ingredients in the store.  Fondant is stretchy and it's easy to cover the cakes with. New thing that I learned is that when you mix fondant with Gum Paste  you can make beautiful flowers and drapes on the cakes. I realized that I did not post fondant recipe  yet, so here it is...

Cars Lightning McQueen Cake Topper Tutorial

Make a car cake by following these step-by-step instructions. Inspired by Lightning McQueen from the Disney Movie "Cars".  Make your kid's birthday cake special. A cake topper shaped into a car is an easy do-it-yourself project that will delight anyone who sees it. I am not a trained cake decorator. I am a mom learning how to make cakes with fondant. Each year for each birthday I get excited of making a new cake challenge!!!  There is something very special and satisfying about making your own cake. And it is great hearing your own kids comments about how wonderful it is. And they think mom makes the best cakes ever:))). It doesn't matter if it is not as a perfect as the store bought kind. Kids will have fun on their birthday anyway:)))

To make the car cake topper you will need:
#1 Fondant
#2 Rice Krispies
#4 Buttercream
Black, yellow and red colors

You can watch my video on you tube. This car cake topper took about 4 hrs to make. I shrink the video as much as possible:) I hope you can enjoy it.

Gum Paste Recipe

Homemade gum paste is better than premade in most cases because it is less expensive and creates a product that is easier to use. Premade gum paste tends to be a little stiffer and more likely to crack. There are four elements to making gum paste which are ingredients, mixing, kneading and storing. It is important to allot enough time when creating gum paste because each step is crucial to the finished product and ultimately the flowers you create. I started learning with fondant, because I could go and buy the ingredients. I moved on to gum paste now and loving it. Gum paste is similar to fondant  in many ways. It is a pliable sugar dough that you can roll, mold and shape into virtually any figure you desire. Many fondant tools also work with gum paste. The major difference lies in the fact that gum paste dries much quicker, and harder, than fondant.

I am selling my gumpaste creations at my  Etsy Shop
