Everyone loves the turkey at Thanksgiving, even the turkey hater! I've now been named the official Thanksgiving Turkey Maker in our family. I been preparing turkey for almost 2 decades. If you are looking for the best juicy turkey recipe, this is it!!! You found it:) Now you can make the best turkey dinner for your family.
Important to follow to get the juicy turkey:

Marinade for smaller turkey:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup ranch dressing

First defrost the turkey. Rinse it well.
I take out apples and onion then I stuff turkey with Trader Joe's Harvest Grains Blend.

HI,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Yelena What a great and simple recipe you have. I am going to be trying to make my first turkey this Thanksgiving and I have a few questions for you:
1. Can I substitute Trader Joe's sea salt with something else since we don't have this store around here?
2. by "1/2 ranch" you mean ranch dressing?
3. Is it just a regular pyrex glass dish you are using to place your turkey on to roast?
Thanks a lot.
Hi Yelena,
DeleteSure, use any other salt 1 tbs, if you are using vegeta if not add 1 tsp salt (I am guessing here) for smaller turkey. For large 25 lbs turkey I would put 2 tbs salt, if you are not using vegeta.
Yes, I fixed ranch directions.
Yes, for 10 lbs turkey I used a larger pyrex glass dish, it worked out perfectly.
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
It's Yelena again. Thanks so much for such quick response. One more question. Does it matter at all which brand of turkey to use ?
ReplyDeleteThank you ! And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
No, I buy the ones on sale for 5-6 dollars:)))
DeleteEnjoy♥¸.•*´¯*♥
Hi,
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify you bake the turkey covered with a foil until it's done?
Thanks. Happy Holidays!
Yes, bake covered until ready:))) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lea thanks for bringing your turkey to the party I ENJOYED it. Love it. Your Turkey has a lot of flavor and it is juicy.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Lanna:))) I am glad that you enjoyed it:)

Hi, Lea,
ReplyDeleteIt's Yelena again. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful recipe. I did my first turkey (or full bird for that matter) this Thanksgiving following your recipe. I've also added oranges in addition to onions and apples. It took me sometime to find smoked paprika in the stores for some reason. Anyway, your recipe was so easy, fast (very important) and the most delicious turkey I've ever ate. All guests raved about it. I've never thought I can get this result without brining the turkey first. Thank you once again so so so much!
I am happy to share my dads famous recipe, so everybody can enjoy turkey for Thanksgiving:))) Thank you so much Yelena for coming back leaving a comment. It's great for people to find out that this is a very good turkey recipe, not only by me saying its good recipe.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteCan you do chicken this way? If so, are all ingredients included and in what proportions?
thank you
Yes, This is the recipe for chicken too. I always made it with out measuring it. This recipe is for 10 lbs of meat so just divide it by how much chicken meat you have. And my favorite way of cooking chicken is on the bottle. Find a glass bottle that chicken will fit on it (like a Snapple one)fill it with water and put the chicken over it. Bake it on 350F like 1-2 hrs. Hope this helped:)
DeleteWow, I can't believe we're already talked turkey recipes. This looks yummy. Thanks for sharing on the weekend re-Treat link party!

You are welcome:)
DeleteThanks for stopping by:)
Can I cook in a roasting pan instead of pyrex?
ReplyDeleteYou can cook it in any baking dish you want. I buy the foil one for the 25 lbs turkey and it works just fine:)
DeleteThat is one gorgeous turkey! I have never heard of using the spices in your recipe on turkey, but I bet it makes for a very flavorful bird. Is that Israeli couscous stuffing in the first photo? You are one clever lady! Thanks for sharing these great tips with us at Saturday Night Fever!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to share my recipes with everybody!!!
DeleteThanks for stopping by Andy:)
Your turkey is beautiful!!! I have to do the turkey at our house this year and I'm pretty much gonna need this. Thanks so much for sharing it at Saturday Night Fever!
ReplyDeleteAlso -- if my turkey doesn't work out I might crash your T-Day party.
Oh, you won't be disappointed with turkey recipe. You can't go wrong with it, it's been tested countless times and always comes out perfect!!!
DeleteEnjoy!
hi lea! this will be my first time making turkey for thanksgiving and i really hope it will turn out good:) one question: can you really taste the cumin? my husband and i aren't too fond of it)
ReplyDeleteHi, you can't taste cumin, but you can skip it. Add all your favorite spices and it will turn out great!!!
DeleteLea,
ReplyDeleteIf you do this on chickens, what should the temp be and for how long? I think this would be good anytime of the year. For a chicken, maybe use a small apple and onion? Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Tandra,
DeleteFor chicken bake on 375 for 30 min and 350 for about 1 hr. I am just guessing here, I haven't baked a chicken in years. I might do a post on chicken soon:)
How long would I bake a 13 pound turkey?
ReplyDeleteBake for 3 to 3 1/2 hours :)
DeleteLeave in fridge to marinade overnight?
ReplyDeleteYes, you could. I leave it in the garage. Refrigerate if you live in warm climate. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Leas, I was just wondering if you meant a whole head of garlic in the recipe or 1 to 1/2 sections of the garlic?
ReplyDeleteHi Ally, It's the whole head of garlic :)
DeletePerfect! thank you!!!
