There aren't many dessert recipes that offer a lovely light pastry filled with rich cream such as a Napoleon. This is my express version of Napoleon.
Ingredients for dough:
1 package of puff pastry
Cream:
1 stick of butter (soften)
1/2 cup powder sugar
2 small packs of instant vanilla pudding
2 1/2 cups milk
12 oz cool whip (melted at room temp for an hour)
Puff pastry need to be at room temperature. You will need pieces of aluminum foil.
Sprinkle a little bit of flour on the foil and roll into a thin flat piece. You can put a plate over it to make it into a circle cake.
I made mine a square shape. Poke with a fork all around. Bake it on the same piece of foil. Bake on 350F about 10 min.
The dough will shrink.
Butter have to be really soft. Mix it with powdered sugar. Add a few table spoons of pudding to make it really smooth.
Add all the pudding and cool whip. Mix until smooth.
Spread it on each layer of the dough.
Leave it over night to soften. To decorate you can use crumbs from the dough. Or be creative with fruits. Enjoy with your favorite tea or coffee.
nice!

I made this cake twice. The second time i made it was for a party. So I got packages of dough and doubled the cream content. The cake turned rectangular and pretty tall. People asked me for few pieces to go :-)

DeleteNice to hear you guys enjoyed it:)
Does this cake taste the authentic Russian Napoleon? I want to know before I try making it, I don't want to be disappointed if it's not the same taste.. It looks like an awesome cake though.
ReplyDeleteIt taste really close to authentic cake, but if you want real Napoleon you need to make your own dough, I posted "Quick Pastry Puff Dough Recipe". Then make a zavarnoy cream. I already made it this weekend, will post it in a few days:)))
DeleteWow! Looks amazing and super easy! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
