Parties are prettier when Princess is invited to the celebration!
My friend called invited me to help decorate this cake. For her daughters Birthday cake. So together we learn how to make it. She baked a zebra cake. Then the journey of learning started.
Ingredients for fondant:
16 ounces white mini-marshmallows (use a good quality brand)
2 to 5 tablespoons water ( I skipped water)
2 pounds icing sugar (please use C&H Cane Powdered Sugar for the best results)
1/2 cup Crisco shortening (you will be digging into it so place in a very easily accessed bowl)
For the cake:
Make any cake you want or Zebra cake
To cover the cake use butter cream. We whipped 2.5 sticks of butter 1/2 cup powder sugar and 3-4 tbs condensed sweet milk.
Melt marshmallows in a microwave. To microwave, place the bowl in the microwave for 45 seconds stir and put again.
Now grease your hands GENEROUSLY (palms, backs, and in between fingers), then heavily grease the counter you will be using and dump the bowl of marshmallow/sugar mixture in the middle. Start kneading like you would bread dough. You will immediately see why you have greased your hands. Keep kneading, this stuff is sticky at this stage! Add the rest of the powdered sugar and knead some more. Re-grease your hands and counter when the fondant starts sticking.
Now fondant is ready to color.
Add any color and knead to mix it. Always add more powdered sugar.
Wear gloves when mixing colors.
Pretty colors.
Now it’s time to start. Your cake should be baked, and completely cooled. If you have a shaped cake, you can trim it now and then place the cake on a prepared cake board. In other words, you are assembling the cake puzzle on the board. You can also place the cake on the board first and then trim. She made 3 large layers.
Then divided into 6 layers.
Cut the edges to make a skirt shape.
Cut a hole inside for the doll.
Assemble the cake with cream. You can use any cream inside the layers. But on the outside use butter cream.
Wrap the doll in plastic wrap.
Place in the hole.
Grease the table.
Grease rolling pin. ( I over did it a little )
Start rolling the large circle. Cut a little hole in the middle.
Wrap the whole doll in plastic.
Dress her up.
We decided to leave ruffles.
Top for a skirt.
To glue on everything use water.
For the shirt I cut 2 leafs and made shapes.
Flowers
More flowers.
Adding mare flowers on.
Adding pearls to flowers.
Girls came in to help.
After decorating cover with water using a brush.
Well I think for the beginner it looks okay. It made a birthday girl very happy.
it's simply beautiful - I'm sure it was a HUGE hit!
