Trader Joe's Harvest Grains Blend

This blend includes Israeli style couscous, Orzo, Baby Garbanzo beans and Red quinoa. It’s bright, crunchy and colorful – what’s not to love!  It's hearty, healthy and absolutely delicious. The texture and taste is slightly nutty and complements any main dish, especially with some fresh chopped parsley. You can also mix it with shrimp or scallops for a tasty and simple meal. It's ready in about 15 minutes. I stuffed Thanksgiving Turkey with it.

      Ingredients:
1 pack Harvest  grains blend
3 1/2 cups water
2 tbs BTB Better than bouillon paste
2 handfuls small carrots
1 med onion
1 red bell pepper
1 oz butter
Oil to saute the veggies

      Optional:

1/2 cup dried chopped cranberries, apricots or raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts ( almonds, pecans etc.)
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Boil water add BTB, stir.

Add the blend to the boiling water. Boil covered for 10 min.

Slice and saute carrots in oil for a few min.
Add  minced onions saute for a few more min and add minced bell pepper. Saute for a few more min.
Add butter and vegetables. Mix well.
Enjoy!!!

  1. We don't have a Trader Joe's here in Ontario. When we are south, I always stop and stock up. Great place.

  3. Hi lea, today I've tried your turkey recipe along with Trader Joe's harvest grains blend (no occasion, just smth. New for family) and everything turned out very delicious!!! The only question I have: baby beans were still strong after 20 min of cooking!!! Is it supposed to be so, or they must be prepared much longer than 10 (20 min in my case)????

    1. It's supposed to be a little hard, crunchy. I love it this way:) Natasha you can put anything inside turkey after you cook it. I used to put cous cous with veggies previously. This Thanksgiving I decided to stuff it with harvest blend. Hope this helped:))) Enjoy!!!
