Homemade bread is one of the great treats of cooking. Making your own bread allows you to control your ingredients, avoiding excess salt, preservatives and artificial colors and dough conditioners. But none of these advantages comes close to the basic truth that home-baked bread is a glorious treat. Tastes like expensive restaurant artisan bread, but literally takes 5 minutes of work. Chewy and soft on the inside, crisp and crunchy on the outside.
1.5 cups warm water
1 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar (optional)
1/8 tsp dry yeast (If you put more yeast is will have strong yeast taste)
3 cups flour (I use Canadian flour)
You will need a baking dish with a cover.
Or sprinkle yeast on the water and wait for a minute until it melts.
In a large pot or a bowl add water and sift the flour into the water mix with a spatula.
It will look like this. Cover and leave it for 12 hrs on the counter over night.
It will look like that in the morning.
Put some flour on the table and fold in the dough carefully. Put it in the oiled baking pot and let it rise for an hour or two.
Bake covered on 425F for 25 min. Uncover and bake on 400F until golden color.
I made 2 batches and it was gone in a few hours.
Enjoy!!!

Hi I wanted to know if I can cover the baking dish with foil and bake it like that?
ReplyDeleteYes it will work. Or you can place a water dish on the lower shelf and bake it open.
