These are all time favorite yeast bulochki. You can fill em with any sweet fillings you like. Most common filling is Poppy Seeds. I made em with Apple filling this time. This is a small portion it make 15-17 small sized buns. It's my favorite dough recipe now always turns out great and so simple to make. My Instagram friend Vera shared this recipe with me. Thank you Vera :)
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1 egg
3 tbsp oil
1 1/2 tsp dry yeast
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp sugar
3 3/4 cup flour (I use Canadian flour)
Filling:
3-4 large apples (I used Fuji)
1/2 cup brown sugar (or less to your taste)
2 tbs butter
1 tsp cinnamon
Oil for dipping
1 egg or 1 yolk for brushing
Peel apples and grate em.
Melt butter add apples. Saute for few min.
Add brown sugar and cinnamon.
Let it cool to a room temp.
Dough:
Add dry ingredients. Sift flour. Set on dough setting for 1 1/2 hrs.
Get all ingredients together on the table. Take a small amount of dough and make a circle, add about 1-2 tsp of apple filling.
Pinch ends together to make a circle shape.
Dip sides into oil and place into oiled baking pan.
Prepare egg by whisking it with the fork for brushing.
Set you oven on bread proof setting. Let it rise for 30 min.
Then brush egg on top.
Bake on 350F for 20 min.
Hi lea thanks for sharing your friends recipe. This dough is almost the same as the dough I make for mine except I add about 2T sour cream to my dough. I mix it with the eggs and oil then add it to the dough. It makes the rolls fluffier and tastier IMHO. Btw beautiful pictures and I love your blog keep on posting and thanks for adding me:)
ReplyDeleteI make have the other dough recipe too, its with butter and sour cream :) Thats the one I used for so many years. Then I decided to try this one and I like too :)

DeleteThese look so yummy! Could you tell me how to make the dough without the bread maker? I don't own one :(
ReplyDeleteYou can make dough in kitchen aid mixer with the hook attachment. Or the old fashion way kneed it by hand.
DeleteWould you please tell me when to put oil in the bread maker when making dough? I do not see it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Also, please explain what is bread proof setting means?
ReplyDeleteSure, add oil before you add flour. Its the dough setting.
DeleteNo, its warm setting in your oven to make dough rise before you bake it.
DeleteWhenever I make these buns, I always dice the apples.
